The Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) is committed to the journey towards becoming world-class film agency, dedicated to empowering the Lagos film industry while ensuring a balance in creativity, compliance, and cultural integrity.
At this year’s conference, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented by Mrs. Adebimpe Oyekan-Ismaila, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and film industry practitioners. Together, we can achieve a harmonious blend of creativity and compliance.
Executive Secretary Mrs. Adebukola Agbaminoja expressed her gratitude for the industry’s support since she took the helm. She further reaffirms the Agency’s pledge to promote the business of Film while offering support and services where required “We must evolve into an institution that not only regulates but also supports and empowers, positioning Lagos as the creative capital of Africa,” she stated. Her vision includes creating an ecosystem where more co-productions are achieved in Lagos, as well as having Nigerian films with local flavors celebrated and distributed globally.
The conference theme, “Navigating the Future of Film: Balancing Creativity, Compliance, and Cultural Integrity,” resonated throughout various enlightening sessions. Notable discussions included:
-Reimagining Compliance as a Catalyst for Creative Excellence by Fadekemi Olumide-Aluko
- Addressing the Rise of Violence and Abuse on Film Sets by Zik Zulu
- Digital Citizenship and Online Etiquette by Segun Arinze
- Panel Discussion on the Impact of Streaming Platforms on Traditional Film Distribution Models: Role of the Film Market, featuring experts Chioma Ude, Moses Babatope, Uche Agbo, and moderated by Victor Okhai.
The event was further enriched by cultural dances and drama presentations from the LSFVCB and the Council for Arts and Culture, showcasing the vibrant heritage of Lagos.
As stakeholders commended the Lagos State Government’s unwavering support, the call for continued collaboration to drive growth and excellence in the film industry was resounding. Together, we can make Lagos the premier creative hub of Africa!
